McGraw ranks the top NBA draft prospects
Our Bulls beat writer, Mike McGraw, offers his assessment of the top prospects for Thursday's NBA draft, by position:
Point guards
Ricky Rubio (6-4, 180), DKV Joventut
• Spanish sensation may have trouble exiting his European contract.
Jonny Flynn (6-1, 196), Syracuse
• Explosive athlete scored 34 points in 6OT win over UConn.
Jrue Holiday (6-4, 199) UCLA
• Former high school star didn't play the point during lone college season.
Ty Lawson (6-1, 197) North Carolina
• Set ACC single-season record with 3.49 assist-to-turnover ratio last year.
Brandon Jennings (6-1, 170) Lottomatica Roma
• Broke new ground by playing in Europe instead of college.
Eric Maynor (6-3, 164) Virginia Commonwealth
• Best known for hitting game-winning jumper against Duke in '07 tourney.
Jeff Teague (6-2, 175) Wake Forest
• Father Shawn played for Rick Pitino at Boston University.
Shooting guards
James Harden (6-5, 222) Arizona State
• Led Pac-10 in both scoring (20.1 ppg) and steals (1.9).
Stephen Curry (6-3, 181) Davidson
• Set an NCAA record with 162 3-point baskets in 2007-08.
Tyreke Evans (6-5, 221) Memphis
• Scored 33 points in NCAA tourney loss to Missouri.
Gerald Henderson (6-5, 215) Duke
• Improved his scoring, but was never a great 3-point shooter in college.
Terrence Williams (6-6, 213) Louisville
• Never a big scorer, but placed second on school's all-time assist list.
Small forwards
Demar DeRozan (6-7, 211) USC
• Smooth, athletic freshman might have sizable upside.
James Johnson (6-8, 257) Wake Forest
• Turned in some huge performances, but was often inconsistent.
Chase Budinger (6-7, 206) Arizona
• Former volleyball star was one of best leapers at predraft camp.
Sam Young (6-7, 223) Pittsburgh
• Shot 48 percent from 3-point line in four NCAA tournament games.
Power forwards
Blake Griffin (6-10, 248) Oklahoma
• Averaged 14.4 rebounds, highest in NCAA since Tim Duncan in '97.
Jordan Hill (6-10, 232) Arizona
• Scoring average grew from 4.7 to 18.3 in three years of college.
DeJuan Blair (6-7, 277) Pittsburgh
• Undersized forward was outstanding on offensive boards.
Earl Clark (6-10, 228) Louisville
• An athletic forward with perimeter offensive skills.
Austin Daye (6-11, 192) Gonzaga
• Tall and thin, with a nice shooting touch. But can he play inside?
Tyler Hansbrough (6-10, 234) North Carolina
• Rugged forward is all-time NCAA leader in free throws made.
Centers
Hasheem Thabeet (7-3, 267) Connecticut
• Tanzania native averaged more than 4 blocks per game past two seasons.
B.J. Mullens (7-1, 258) Ohio State
• Owns plenty of athletic tools, but had a disappointing year at OSU.
