Elgin
• An Aurora man lied about his name and kicked a police officer in the leg and groin in an attempt to avoid arrest for domestic battery Sunday in the 300 block of South McLean Boulevard, police said. Neftali Maldonado, 23, of the 200 block of T. Street, was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, obstructing justice, two counts of domestic battery, resisting arrest and driving without a license. His bond was set at 10 percent of $75,000. His next court date is June 2 at the Kane County Judicial Center. He faces up to seven years in prison if found guilty of the aggravated battery charge.
Algonquin
•Tiffany D. Spaw, 40, of the first block of Redbud Court in Lake in the Hills, was arrested Friday inside the Old Navy at Algonquin Commons and charged with retail theft. She was released after posting $100 bond and is due in Kane County court July 23.
Kane County
• Jewelry valued at $2,900 was reported stolen Sunday from a residence on the 35W500 block of Miller Road, Dundee Township, according to police.
• A red GT Compe bicycle valued at $400 was reported stolen June 15 from a residence on the 9N700 block of Bowes Road, Plato Township, according to police.
• More than 100 nails were discovered in a horse-riding arena Saturday on the 10N200 block of Nesler Road, Elgin Township.
• Someone broke the front and side passenger windows on a 2005 Nissan Frontier in the 800 block of Hiawatha Drive at about 11:25 p.m. Sunday, reports said.
• About 100 pills of the generic form of the muscle relaxer Soma were reported stolen from a 2007 Toyota Scion in the 500 block of Van Street between 7 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday, reports said.
• Cesar Villagomez, 33, of the 300 block of North Jackson Street, Elgin, was arrested at 12:23 a.m. Monday at the Grand Victoria Casino, 250 S. Grove Ave., and charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing a peace officer, police said. Villagomez is accused of threatening to pull a gun after he was told not to throw dice during a craps game and feigning injury after he was handcuffed, reports said. He is due in court on Aug. 14.
• Adrian E. Argueta, 21, of the 4600 block of West Altgeld Street, Chicago, was arrested at 1:26 a.m. Sunday and charged with driving without a license, open alcohol, running a red light and improper lane use after a traffic stop at McLean Boulevard and Meyer Street, reports said.
• A GPS device, purse and $20 were stolen between 7 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday from a 2002 Jeep Cherokee parked in the 2200 block of Point Boulevard, reports said.
