DNR restricts boating on Rock River

Citing rising water, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources is restricting boating on the Rock River in several counties in the northern part of state.

The restricted areas in Lee, Ogle and Whiteside counties are off limits to all recreational watercraft.

The DNR says swift currents and floating debris are creating hazardous conditions on the river.

The National Weather Service says the Rock River is near flood stage in several areas.
