Chicago firm recalls ground beef
International Meat Co. of Chicago is recalling 6,152 pounds (2.8 metric tons) of ground-beef products that may have been contaminated with E. coli bacteria, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in a statement yesterday.
The beef was produced June 17 to June 19 and was shipped to Chicago-area distributors and restaurants, the USDA said in the statement. No illnesses have been reported. The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service discovered the problem through sampling procedures.
