Boycott expensive amateur sports
As a retired Chicago Public Schools teacher, I had the fortunate opportunity to be a "snowbird" during the months of January and February in Tucson, Ariz., and going to a University of Arizona basketball game.
My fortune continued when getting a ticket to an amateur "Cats" basketball game was impossible for under $50, and I decided not to go.
Now my decision really makes sense with the controversies of student's records being falsified to play in major college programs, and coaches making millions of dollars to coach them.
I believe we should boycott expensive amateur sports events so this system of rewarding the fortunate players and coaches, and not allowing qualified "normal" students into universities, can cease.
