Waubonsie will help transfer students
Regarding your story related to the opening of Metea Valley High School, when Metea is opened next school year and new attendance boundaries take effect, some sophomore and freshman students will attend a different high school, even though they have older siblings at Neuqua Valley or Waubonsie Valley High School. As you reported, the school board was unable to change the policy, which could have potentially kept some siblings at the same high school.
I am sorry for the families with the complication of children at two different high schools. I will have a student at Waubonsie Valley, who will be in school with students who have siblings at Neuqua and also with others who have them at Metea.
I will make sure my child is aware and sympathetic of this issue. I will encourage her to offer our family's help, such as offering rides. I want affected families to know that although the school board was unable to specifically address this concern, they will have my family's support and the support of many other Waubonsie families. I am fully confident that the Waubonsie Valley community will generously step up to help our neighbors facing this and other challenges as our district opens its new high school.
