GM sure to fail with Frank as 'car czar'
Barney Frank just reminded us why the GM bailout by the federal government is probably going to fail. You remember Barney; he is the Congressman from Massachusetts who almost single-handedly caused this recession by forcing banks to give mortgages to people who could never pay them back. The financial meltdown started when all those mortgages went bad and housing prices collapsed as a result. Well now he just showed us why the GM bailout will probably fail. Barney called the new CEO of GM and demanded that GM not close a GM warehouse in his district that employs 90 people. Never mind that auto sales are down 40 percent and GM does not need the warehouse space. Never mind that GM is in Chapter 11 which is designed to allow a bankrupt company to unload harmful debt in order to compete and survive for the future. The new CEO for GM works for Barack Obama and the Democratic Party now and this is not about revamping a business, it is a government jobs program paid for by the taxpayer. So instead of making tough business decisions that could turn the company around, GM will have to conform to political party hacks like Frank trying to score political points. Unfortunately, business is unforgiving and only rewards success, not political correctness. In the tough competitive business world, GM's competitors will do what is required to succeed and meet customer demands and that will always put them at an advantage over GM which is run by politicians who want to look good while paying for it with your money.
