Why can't I celebrate, too?
I cannot believe what I have just read. A congressman proposes a "Year of the Bible" and so many people are going ballistic. I don't understand.
The one critic I want to address especially is the one who is saying that they don't want to impose other religions on people because not all people are religious. My argument for that is that we have "African-American" and "Hispanic" months and not all of us are African-American or Hispanic. So are we being forced to celebrate something we are not? We have had the "Year of the Child." Are all of us children? No, but we are "forced" to celebrate something we are not. So if our country has a "Year of the Bible," those who are not religious don't have to celebrate if they are not religious.
