Argument is lost with stereotype
I wish to commend A.Y. Kirkland, Jr. and his excellent letter regarding Tom Tancredo, former Republican presidential candidate, and Tancredo's contradictory comments about who should receive help from the government in time of trouble.
His letter is logical and well-written.
If only Mr. Kirkland had stopped before making his statement, "... that inside every conservative who tells everyone else to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps is a 'hand out, where's mine" big government welfare recipient waiting to happen."
By projecting the behavior of a single person onto an entire group, conservatives in this case, Mr. Kirkland betrays himself.
