DadFest wheels into Willow Creek this weekend
Those celebrating Father's Day will find a one-of-a-kind event in a very unexpected place: a church parking lot.
Saturday and Sunday, June 20 and 21, one of Willow Creek Community Church's parking lots - larger than two football fields - will be transformed into a sea of shiny chrome on everything from unique and exotic cars to motor homes, motorcycles, boats and trucks.
It's all a part of "DadFest." In addition to loads of custom vehicles, DadFest has free hot dogs, and live 60s & 70s music from The Fabulous Ambassadors and Denny Diamond.
Under tents set up in the parking lot, attendees can meet others who live near them, get connected and enjoy music and food.
Wayne Cordeiro, founder and senior pastor of New Hope Christian Fellowship Oahu, is the guest speaker at weekend services with a message entitled "The Dream Releasers." DadFest takes place following the 5:30 p.m. service on June 20 and following the 9 and 11:15 a.m. services on June 21. Admission is free.
DadFest is sponsored by the C.A.R.S. Ministry of Willow Creek. Christian Auto Repairmen Serving is a ministry that takes in cars and reconditions them for those who are unable to meet their own transportation needs.
Willow Creek Community Church, now in its 34th year, welcomes people from all backgrounds regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey.
Willow Creek Community Church is located at 67 Algonquin Road in South Barrington, Illinois. www.willowcreek.org or (847) 765-5000.
