Tired of grousing over Metea Valley

I, for one, am completely sick and tired of all the negativity surrounding Metea Valley and the complaints from Neuqua students and parents who are now going to Waubonsie. In the article about "District 204 keeping the sibling policy," I found myself rather offended by Janet Wilhelm's comment about the "emotional toll" on her children and that their only choice is to sell their house and move back into Neuqua territory.

Parents like Mrs. Wilhelm must not realize that her children (a freshman and a sophomore) did not even occupy the same building this last year and were already "split up" as it was. This excuse of "not wanting to separate the children" is only a thinly veiled metaphor for not wanting to attend Waubonsie Valley next year; a fact that I find rather disheartening.

As a recently graduated Waubonsie Valley senior, I am fully aware of its less-than-stellar reputation and I am also aware of how misleading that reputation can be. I attended Waubonsie for four years, and each year I had amazing teachers and friends alike, I received the same education as Neuqua students (graduating with over a 4.0 GPA and an ACT score of 30), and I am happy to say that I'll miss every minute of it.

I want these parents to know that they're doing a disservice to their children by not going to Waubonsie next year, and for up and leaving simply because they did not get their way. I know of no reason on earth that they should not want their students to come to Waubonsie next year, and it's a shame if they think otherwise. I, on the other hand, am proud to be a Waubonsie Valley alumnus. Go Warriors!
