Burris interviewed by prosecutor
SPRINGFIELD -- The Sangamon County state's attorney has interviewed Sen. Roland Burris in a probe into the senator's testimony before a legislative panel looking into his appointment by Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
Delmarie Cobb, Burris' media and political adviser, said Burris met with State's Attorney John Schmidt on Monday. She said Burris thought the interview was a fair one.
Schmidt in February launched an investigation into whether Burris deliberately misled the House committee that recommended Blagojevich's impeachment. The U.S. Senate Select Committee on Ethics is also looking into the issue.
In question is whether he committed perjury when he told the House committee neither he nor any of his representatives had spoken with Blagojevich or his representatives prior to Dec. 26 about securing the Senate seat vacated by President Obama. He subsequently changed his story.
