Metra names station after late Illinois legislator

A Chicago area commuter rail station is being named after the late Illinois Rep. Lovana Jones, who spent nearly 20 years in the state Legislature.

Jones, who was known as "Lou," died in 2006 at the age of 68.

Metra's board of directors recently approved the decision to rename the 35th Street station in Chicago.

Jones was a Chicago Democrat who chaired the House Public Safety Appropriations Committee. She had represented the city's south side since 1987 and was an assistant majority leader.

U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush has applauded the decision. He says renaming the station after Jones is a good way to honor the longtime Illinois politician.
