Politicians don't care about our money
Keith Gray's letter said a lot of what I have and others have been saying for some time. Take care of Number 1 first because no one else will or care to. Some people may think that may sound selfish but that is the harsh reality in today's world. So many people got them selves in a bind by buying more houses than they could afford and charged their credit cards to the max and now like AIG, General Motors and others are looking for a bailouts. Only difference is us little people are at bottom of the totem pole and our elected officials don't give a hoot for us. Their answers are more taxes and more ways to get us to pay more. Todd Stroger can have every relation and friend be employed by the county and pay them outrageous salaries but when it comes time to balance the county's budget instead of laying off his family and friends he threatens to close hospitals and paints a picture of gloom if his 10.25 percent sales tax is repealed. If anyone tries to go against him he uses the race card and stirs up a bunch of hatred in the eyes of black vs white while he continues to see green. Our current governor is no better at painting a "Dooms Day scenario" if his budget is not passed. He has the nerve to say at a Memorial Day parade in a very exclusive suburb of PARK RIDGE that the majority of the people he talked to understand and support his tax increase proposals. I am sure he can find people on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago that will say the same thing. Let him come to less exclusive suburbs and the majority of neighborhoods in Chicago and see if he gets the same response no matter how much candy he throws to the crowd. People are loosing their houses, jobs, health care and the price of prescription drugs is going through the roof that every penny has to be accounted for by most people and their solution is let's squeeze a little more and see how much more blood we can get from the turnip. It is so easy to put the blame for the mess we are in on someone's predecessor but I can't believe no one in the Democratic or Republican party knew nothing or did nothing to stop the corruption. Why can't both parties get together and stop all the childish behavior and nitpicking at what each other says and does and form a united front and stop sending money to Iraq and quit telling us that it is not that simple and we don't understand the process of withdrawing our brave men and women? They deployed them in record time why can't they pull them out in record time? Then the billions we are spending there every month could stay here and fix our economic problems. But that would be too simple for their advanced minds to understand the process.
