Not enough on campaign reform

Illinois has made some significant progress in campaign finance reform. Unfortunately, it's not much consolation for anyone who thinks an incumbent isn't doing a good job. We decided to turn the snowballing momentum of Blagojevich's arrest for corruption into our Stone of Sisyphus, and watch it roll back to a shadow of what it could have been.

Under the new rules, incumbents can receive donations every year, rather than once in an election cycle. In true Illinois fashion, those with money will be able to donate early, and donate often. At least some limits have been put into place, trying to stop the unlimited donations previously allowed. We're now reigning in the horses of our runaway carriage and trying to turn government back over to responding to the people rather than the buck. But we could have done so much more.
