Even Burris could be class president
I am stunned that Neuqua Valley High School administrators have the time, energy, and motivation to manipulate student elections. It is difficult to imagine that Rodney Boyd, Jr, would be denied the opportunity to even appear on the ballot to run for class president after winning student elections regularly since middle school.
Mr. Boyd responded to the attempt to thwart his ambition and demonstrated impressive political instincts and skills to mount a successful write-in campaign. We can only assume that Mr. Boyd won the election by write-in; we don't know because school administrators disenfranchised voters by keeping secret the write-in vote results (and if they don't want Boyd serving in student government they surely would have released the write-in vote results if he had lost).
Who do they think they are, the Florida State Supreme Court? Then again, perhaps this is all an intentional design to introduce Neuqua students to Illinois' pay-to-play politics. If ex-Governors Blagojevich and Ryan were the Neuqua Valley senior class sponsors, the solution would be clear ... a few thousand dollars changes hands and even Roland Burris could be Neuqua Valley senior class president.
