'Ask a Lawyer':

Free legal advice is available by phone today in Kane County. "Ask a Lawyer Days" is a free program sponsored by the Kane County Bar Association. People can call (630) 762-1900 from 9 a.m. to noon for a consultation with a volunteer attorney. For more information, visitkanecountybar.org.

Try out for play:

Auditions for Shakespeare's "A MidSummer Night's Dream" will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at All Dressed Up Costumes, in the Campana Building, northwest corner of Fabyan Parkway and Route 31, Geneva. The play will be performed July 24, 25, 26 and 31, and Aug. 1 and 2, on Clark Island in Batavia. Actors and actresses 17 and older are needed. Auditioners will read from the script, and no appointment is needed. For questions or to schedule an audition at an alternate time, call (630) 879-5130.

Geneva attorney honored:

A Geneva attorney has been named president of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. Peter Flowers, 41, of Naperville, was installed as the association's 56th president last week. Flowers, a partner at Foote, Meyers, Mielke & Flowers in Geneva, is a graduate of Loyola and DePaul universities. He has been a practicing attorney in Illinois since 1992 and also has been admitted to practice in the United States District Court and several other state and federal courts. Flowers said he plans to use his one-year term as association president to educate the public about the work of trial lawyers.

Learn to be a lifeguard:

Teens 12 to 15 interested in lifeguarding are invited to participate in Raging Waves' new Junior Lifeguard training program in Yorkville. The program begins Monday and continues through August. Two sessions are available each month. Sessions cost $39.99 and include five 90-minute classes, a T-shirt, whistle, lanyard, and completion certificate. Participants will learn lifeguarding and lifesaving basics. Students are required to pass a prerequisite swim test and a tread test before the first class.
