New member named president of Naperville park board
Naperville Park District commissioners Thursday chose Mike Reilly as their new president just a month into his term on the board.
They voted 7-0 in favor of Reilly after President Suzanne Hart declined a nomination to serve a second year as president.
"His demeanor, his capability, his boardmanship - I think he has a lot of skills," said Commissioner Ron Ory, who nominated Reilly.
He said he has worked on boards with Reilly in the past and feels his leadership experience can transcend the fact that he is new to the park board. Reilly is a director with the Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation and president of the White Eagle Club Property Owners Association.
Reilly said he appreciates commissioners' support and has "big shoes to fill" replacing Hart as president.
Hart declined the nomination to retain her role as president saying she will be running for the Will County Board in 2010, a process that begins later this summer. She will continue to serve as a park board commissioner.
Board members Thursday chose Commissioner Gerry Heide as vice president in a 4-3 vote over current Vice President Marie Todd.
