Red Stars lose forward; Masar suffers hip injury

Chicago Red Stars forward Ella Masar will miss 4-6 weeks of soccer action after suffering a hip injury that resulted in four torn muscles during Sunday's 1-1 tie at FC Gold Pride.

Masar was injured in the 72nd minute of Sunday's match when she collided with FC Gold Pride goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart while chasing down a ball inside the 18-yard box. An MRI Tuesday revealed the damage.

The former Illini standout has appeared in all nine games for the Red Stars this season, with three starts. She recorded the first point of her WPS career at Los Angeles June 3 on an assist to Cristiane.

Next game: The Red Stars return home to Toyota Park on June 21st to face Kristine Lilly and the Boston Breakers at 3 p.m.

The Father's Day match will feature a special classic car show in the parking lot before the game. Family four packs are available for the match, featuring four tickets, four hot dogs and four soft drinks and starting at just $64.

Four packs purchased in Premier and Midfield seating sections also include a family photo taken on the sidelines following the game. Be one of the first 50 to purchase a family four pack and receive a complimentary Kristine Lilly bobblehead.
