N. Chicago men get 75 years for shootings
A pair of North Chicago men have been sentenced to 75 years in prison for killing a woman and wounding two men during a 2007 home invasion.
William Fillyaw, 32, and Johnny Parker, 26, were convicted in April of killing Lasondra Shaw, 28.
Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Ryan Koehl said Fillyaw and Parker burst into Shaw's apartment in North Chicago during the early morning hours of June 29.
Firing a shotgun and a 9 mm pistol, the two killed Shaw and injured two men who were in the apartment with her.
Parker was arrested two days later after police traced a cell phone near the scene to him.
Fillyaw was captured five days after the shootings while trying to escape a trap police set for him near the Wisconsin border.
On Tuesday, Circuit Judge Victoria Rossetti sentenced both men to 55 years for the murder and a consecutive term of 20 years for attempted murder.
