Just how deep are our pockets?

How deep does the Daley Administration really believe the pockets of Chicago, Cook County and state of Illinois pockets are? First it was the Meigs Field middle of the night debacle. Next it was the O'Hare Modernization Program, in which the airlines objected from the very beginning and lately have put in writing that the project is way out of line.

Last of all (Illinoisans hope) is the Olympics in 2016 when much of Chicago will be 'changed' for many of its residents and the future may be bleak for them. Where, oh, where, will all the funding come from for all these grandiose projects with no real benefit for Illinois?

Also, we must consider the reasoning behind the O'Hare program to create a better on-time schedule of flights at O'Hare, when even if 20 runways were possible, the "weather factor" would prevent any true improvement in arrivals or takeoffs. This is the case whether we have bad weather in Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Seattle or wherever. If the stimulus money from Washington is used, the taxpayer pockets of the entire nation will be emptied.
