Arrest made in Hanover Park woman's slaying

Late Monday, Hanover Park police announced that Crystal Lake resident Ronald O'Rourke, 46, had been charged with first-degree murder, as well as home invasion and residential burglary, in the murder of a female resident Saturday.

The victim was identified Monday by a relative as Pamela Howat, 51. Authorities aren't yet officially releasing the name, but Andrea Howat of Arlington Heights said she learned the victim was her aunt, Pamela.

Records show Pamela Howat owned the home where the homicide took place, in a quiet neighborhood near County Farm Road and Lawrence Avenue that rarely sees any police activity.

O'Rourke was taken to the DuPage County jail to await a morning bond call. Further details were unavailable late Monday.
