Speak up America: Enough is enough
Members of the "greatest generation" now retired are those retirees who put God and country before their personal interests, often fighting in wars to protect our American way of life. They are men and women of honor and integrity who raised their families, paid their taxes, and worked hard. Many have lost all of their investments or a big portion of their retirement accounts. Their saving accounts pay little interest.
It is an absolute outrage that now our illustrious president and Congress who have run the country into trillions of dollars of debt are talking about giving away more of the country's tax dollars and borrowing money to give to foreign countries. Now, in the presence of this giant give away, our president announces that there will be no yearly cost of living increases for those on Social Security this coming year and the next year. The reason given: There is little inflation. Well, what world does the president and Congress live in?
Medical insurance costs, Medicare prescriptions costs and property taxes have all gone up as have food and gasoline. Additionally, there is talk of increasing the Medicare deductible so the retires would have their monthly payment decreased. The list of increases for people including retirees is up, up.
So who pays for the selfishness, greed and thirst for power of Washington politicos? Why, the one segment in our society, no longer able to work because of age or health reasons, the average retirees of this country. Are our elected officials taking a decrease in their pay? Of course not.
Obama's giant giveaway isn't working. He could have given every adult citizen money and it would have gone into the economy. There would have been money for cars, mortgages and the like at less cost. Instead he and congressional members voted for and he signed a bill for trillions of dollars without reading a word of it. This is not only gigantic stupidity but it is a breach of their duty to represent the best interests of the citizens of this country. It is a time for the citizens of this country to speak out and tell Washington "Enough is enough.
