Reagan doesn't deserve statue

I don't get it. A statue of Ronald Reagan was recently unveiled in the Capitol rotunda. President Reagan was lucky that he was not impeached.

It was under President Reagan that a plan was hatched to aid the insurgents in Nicaragua. To get around the Congressional ban against aiding the Contras, the Reagan administration decided to do an end around on the ban by selling missiles to Iran with the money being sent to the Contras through Israel.

Not only was this illegal, but it put the Reagan administration in the position of selling missiles to a country (Iran) that was a supporter of terrorists.

This harebrained scheme was soon discovered and President Reagan was forced to testify about the affair. The President in a pitiful display claimed to not have any recollection of approving the goofy plan and was allowed to finish his second term without being impeached.

Having a statue of Reagan in the Capitol rotunda is an insult to the office of the President.
