Third murder in as many days in Hanover Park

A third person was murdered in Hanover Park early Saturday evening, stunning a community that has had to deal with two murders in two days.

Hanover Park Mayor Rod Craig said he had no words to describe news of the latest crime.

"I just can't believe it," he said. "I thought I ran out of words two murders ago."

Details were few Saturday evening, but Craig said he thought a woman was killed at a home off County Farm Road.

"I don't know what small town has to deal with this kind of stuff," Craig said. "I don't know if it's the economy, but to see it all occurring in my town ..."

On Thursday, 31-year-old Norma Favela, a pregnant mother of two, was killed.

The second homicide occurred around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, when 23-year-old Diontae Roberts was stabbed at a party.

Craig said he's trying to do what he can to curb violence in town but was stunned at the turn of events this week.

"I'm talking to everybody I can talk to," he said.
