North Aurora man denies pot, cocaine charges

A 46-year-old man pleaded not guilty Friday to charges he had more than 20 pounds of marijuana and a kilogram of cocaine in his North Aurora apartment.

Alfredo Guerrero of the 200 block of Laurel Drive was arraigned on charges of drug possession and possession with intent to deliver in front of Kane County Judge Thomas E. Mueller.

Guerrero was arrested and charged along with his roommate, Juan A. Bolado, 30, in March after a search involving the Kane County sheriff's special operations unit, immigration and customs officials and local police, authorities said. Bolado also has pleaded not guilty.

The most serious charge against both men is a Class X felony with a standard sentencing range of six to 30 years in prison and no possibility of probation.

Bolado and Guerrero each were being held Friday in the county jail with bond set at $750,000 and $1.5 million, respectively. Bolado needs to post $75,000 and Guerrero $150,000 to be released.

Guerrero is due back in court June 26.
