Huntley Road gets much-needed repairs

The tire-busting, alignment-bending potholes on Huntley Road in Carpentersville have been ground down and smoothed out.

Streets Superintendent Jack Clifton said crews spent five days resurfacing and patching areas of the road from Inlet Drive to just east of Tay River Drive.

"It was a project that was sorely needed and long past due," Clifton said. "The department is happy to get in there and do something positive to take a bad section of a very main thoroughfare and make it safe for the public to drive on."

The village delayed repairing the road last summer because plans for a proposed Wal-Mart Supercenter in neighboring West Dundee called for the widening and updating of the thoroughfare. But litigation has postponed progress on the store at Elm Avenue and Huntley Road.
