Lake Villa library announces One Book, One Community:

The book "My Life and Hard Times" by James Thurber has been chosen as the focus for this year's One Book, One Community event at the Lake Villa District Library. The program runs from June 8 to Aug. 8. James Thurber (1894-1961) was a beloved American humorist. Though he spent much of his career writing and drawing for The New Yorker magazine, his roots are solidly Midwestern. His talent for capturing and satirizing everyday events, made his reputation. My Life and Hard Times is a humorous autobiographical memoir. It includes such memorable and uproarious pieces as "A Sequence of Servants", "The Night the Bed Fell" and perhaps the most well-known story about the Thurber family dog, Muggs, "The Dog that Bit People."
