Stone Gate a gem in downtown Des Plaines

Whatever jewel you select at Stone Gate Condominiums - where each condo is named after a gemstone - your purchase will mean quality construction, excellent value and a desirable location near downtown Des Plaines, developers say.

The new community by Newport Builders features 264 condos with one to three bedrooms, one to two baths, in-unit laundry room, private covered balcony, storage area and heated indoor parking space. For buyers purchasing now through Sept. 1, the builder will pay the first year's assessments.

Located off Northwest Highway, the community is comprised of four brick and stone buildings situated in a landscaped courtyard with a gazebo. Each building includes two elevators; wide, well-lit corridors and stairwells; and a TV camera view of the lobby entrance.

"Stone Gate appeals to a variety of buyers: empty-nesters looking for a low-maintenance lifestyle, professional singles seeking a luxury condo with easy access to Metra, and first-time buyers who want good value for their money," said Mary Wright, broker-associate with Century 21 Elm Realtors in Park Ridge.

Several models are professionally furnished and decorated by Frosolone Interiors in Chicago.

One of the featured models is the Opal, base priced from $249,950 with 1,646 square feet, two bedrooms and two baths.

This model features a transitional interior with lots of glass and clean lines and a soothing aqua and sage color scheme.

The entry brings you into the living and dining room area where a glass-topped table with leather chairs presents an elegant setting for dinner. Topped with a table runner, two candles and a small sculpture, the table is set for four. Nearby, a display cabinet shows favorite photos and artwork.

A cream sectional and sage chair provide plenty of seating while aqua and sage valances with cream draperies dress the windows. Sliding doors access the balcony.

In the kitchen, custom cabinetry and stainless steel appliances are standard. Wallpaper with a geometric design adds interest while a round bistro table for four sits by the window.

A cream sofa and two cocoa chairs offer plenty of seating for guests. Two windows brighten the elegant dining space where a dark wood dining table set for four is topped with red roses. Taupe draperies dress the windows.

A half wall separates the dining room from the kitchen that shows the standard stainless steel GE appliance package and a table for two.

To reach the community, exit northbound I-294 at Dempster Avenue and head west about 11/2 miles (turns into Northwest Highway/Miner Street). Turn right at Western Avenue to the sales center.
