One injured in crash on Route 47 in Huntley

One person suffered minor injuries in a crash in Huntley that shut down busy Route 47 for about 45 minutes at about 6:50 a.m. Thursday, police said.

Marijan Peric, of the 5000 block of Fairview Drive in Skokie, was northbound on Route 47 in his gray Volkswagen Jetta when he crossed the center line and hit a tan 2006 Toyota Camry driven by Denise Nemeth, of Huntley, Huntley Deputy Chief Todd Fulton said.

After the two cars hit, Fulton said, the Jetta flipped over and came to a rest on the roof in the center of Route 47 while the Camry spun out on the side of the roadway.

Nemeth was taken to Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin with minor injuries, while Peric was treated and released at the scene, he said.

Route 47 was shut down between Mill and Dean streets for about 45 minutes while rescue officials and police tended to the accident.

Peric was cited for improper lane usage, Fulton said.
