Sky 'man-handles' all-stars

It was Ladies Night at the UIC Pavilion on Tuesday.

In what was billed as a "Basketball Battle of the Sexes," the Chicago Sky "man"-handled its all-male counterpart from the E (Entertainment) League, a Los Angeles-based all-star team made up of actors, musicians and other Hollywood types who are serious basketball players.

The two teams squared off in an exhibition game in front of 3,488 and it was never much of a contest as the Sky, which was up 27 points by halftime, ran away with a 102-55 victory.

Candice Dupree led the Sky with 20 points, and Sylvia Fowles added 16 points. Jia Perkins and Armintie Price each had 14 points.

The E League all-stars, which featured notable entertainers such as singer Brian McKnight, actor Michael Clark Duncan of "The Green Mile" fame and "One Tree Hill" heartthrob James Lafferty, were led by singer Tank with 13 points.

The E-League game was the Sky's final preseason exhibition. The season opens Saturday at Minnesota and the home opener is slated for Friday, June 12, against the Atlanta Dream.
