Congress finally heeds environment

After decades of neglect, it seems our environment is finally gaining the attention it deserves.

The American Clean Energy and Securities Act just passed through committee. This bill is a great step toward developing legislation that will help move America toward clean energy and stop global warming.

I would like to commend U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush for his support of this bill. However, it will take his continued support as well as the support of like-minded representatives in order to ensure that this bill will pass House voting this summer.

I hope all of our legislators realize the importance of the environment as an issue that concerns all Americans no matter which side of the political spectrum they may fall.
