Fire at Naperville restaurant

No one was injured in a Sunday afternoon fire at a popular Naperville restaurant, officials said.

Officials said the roof of Traverso's Restaurant at 2523 Plainfield-Naperville Road caught fire at about 2:30 p.m.

They said employees called 911 emergency dispatch complaining of smoke inside the facility. Upon arrival of firefighters, officials saw heavy smoke coming from the structure's roof.

Fire officials said the fire was under control and out within 10 minutes, though the call was upgraded and additional fire trucks and crews were brought to the scene.

Initial damage estimates to the building and contents has been placed at $1,000. Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze, but believe it was ignited during roof maintenance performed on the building just prior to the fire department's notification.
