Pelosi cartoon was incredibly offensive
The cartoon depicting first female Speaker of the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a witch is incredibly offensive. It is not funny, it doesn't make sense, and is politically wrongheaded. The CIA being cast as Dorothy killing the wicked witch is ridiculous. In fact, Pelosi has not been proven wrong in her statements about the CIA, and the facts - if anyone cares to look at them - happen to be on her side. A more truthful cartoon would show the Bush administration and CIA as the "great and powerful" Oz and Nancy Pelosi as Toto, pulling back the curtain to reveal the lie. Furthermore, the controversy over Pelosi is manufactured and intended to distract from the real story. The Bush administration used torture in our name in a desperate attempt to prove a false link between Iraq and 9/11 and cover for themselves as they pulled resources from pursuing terrorists in Afghanistan to pursue an oil-driven war in Iraq. Their policies made us less safe by alienating our allies, and giving our enemies more reason to hate us. It's disgusting that the Republicans, ex-Bush administration officials and the CIA are choosing to scapegoat a woman for what they did. That you would run a cartoon depicting the duly-elected representative from the State of California as a witch is pathetic.
