Chicago police fatally shoot man
A Chicago police officer has fatally shot a man on the city's West Side.
Officer David Banks says 15 officers in squad cars late Wednesday were pursuing three people in a vehicle that matched the description of one stolen. He says the driver crashed the car and officers chased him and the two passengers on foot.
Banks says that one of the suspects tried to take an officer's gun during a struggle, and the officer shot the unidentified man fatally.
The officer was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening hand injuries. Officials say the other passengers of the allegedly stolen car were apprehended.
Independent Police Review Authority spokesman Mark Payne says his agency is investigating. He says no weapon has been recovered from the deceased suspect.
