Homeless man found dead in Elgin; police still investigating

A homeless man was found dead behind a Marathon gas station in Elgin Tuesday morning and authorities have yet to determine how the man died.

Police said Keith Lake, 50, was found in the parking lot of the gas station at Big Timber Road and McLean Boulevard. An employee of a nearby business reported the body about 9:45 a.m., Deputy Police Chief Jeff Swoboda said.

The cause of death is unknown pending an investigation and results of toxicology tests, Kane County Coroner Chuck West said. West said there were no signs of trauma.
