Freight train kills 2 men in Illinois

CRETE -- Two men have been struck and killed by a Union Pacific freight train as they walked along the tracks in south suburban Chicago.

The Will County coroner's office says 23-year-old Jack Pozdoll of Steger and 19-year-old Christopher Hartwig of Crete died early Friday.

Mark Davis is a spokesman for Omaha, Neb.-based Union Pacific Corp. Davis says the pair were walking along the tracks in Crete when the train engineer sounded the horn and put on the train's emergency brakes.

Davis says the 41-car freight headed from Laredo, Texas, was unable to stop.
