Art supplies drive:
Batavia Artist Association at Water Street Studios is hosting a School of Art open house and art supplies drive from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at its temporary gallery space at 160 W. Wilson St. Gallery and education staff will answer questions about summer programming. A supplies wish list is at waterstreetstudios.com. Water Street Studios will feature two classrooms, a gallery and 26 art studios for rent.
Hospice fundraiser:
"Garden Party," Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice's annual fundraising event, will be held at 10 a.m. May 29 at the Q Center in St. Charles. Attendees will have the chance to win one of 18 themed gift baskets. There is a silent auction and a raffle for tickets to the June 17 Cubs-White Sox game. The hospice serves people in Kane and Kendall counties and parts of DuPage, Cook and McHenry counties. All of FVVH's services are offered free of charge. To buy tickets, call (630) 232-2233. Film fest fundraiser:
Filmmakers will discuss their craft from 7 to 10 p.m. June 4 at Wildwood Restaurant, 477 S. Third St. in Geneva, to raise money for the 2010 Geneva Film Festival. Saints Challenge coming up:
Registration is open for the 31st annual Saints Challenge 5K and Jeff Leavy Youth Mile. The run is at 8 a.m. June 21 at St. Charles East High School's running track. Funds raised benefit the track and cross country programs. Preregistration until June 14 for the 5K is $17 and includes a T-shirt, goody bag and entry into a raffle after the race. New this year is an elementary school competition for the mile run with a team trophy going to the winning school. There are three divisions: fourth and fifth grade, second and third grade, and first grade and younger. Entry fee for the elementary school competition is $10 and includes a T-shirt, goody bag and raffle ticket. Parents may run with their child for free in the mile.
