Final hail and farewell to NBC's Warner Saunders
WMAQ Channel 5 airs one last salute to retired anchor-reporter Warner Saunders with a special tribute called "Never Give Up" at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, May 24. It's part of a new Sunday-morning lineup including Chris Matthews at 7, "Sunday Today" at 8 and "Meet the Press" at 9. It will also be rerun at 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 25.
Moshman dives again
Producer Harvey Moshman, who once dove into Lake Michigan with Will Clinger for a "Wild Chicago" special, returns to the deep with "Lost and Found: Legacy of USS Lagarto," an hourlong documentary about how Manitowoc, Wis., became a submarine-building center during World War II, and how one of its subs was recently discovered after being sunk long ago in the Gulf of Thailand. It airs at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 24, on WTTW Channel 11.
'Wipeout' bounceback
ABC's gloriously stoopid summer competition replacement series "Wipeout" returns for a second season of bouncing off big red balls and other foamy obstacles at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, on WLS Channel 7. John Henson and John Anderson return as hosts, with Jill Wagner reporting from the course.
'Total' trash
In a battle of bad actors, one would think Arnold Schwarzenegger would have it all over Sharon Stone, but the two fight to a standoff of monotone emoting in the futuristic 1990 action movie "Total Recall." It's at 5:30 p.m. today on the Sci Fi Channel.
