Long Grove business moves down the street
A popular Long Grove business is expanding and moving to a new location in town.
Olive Tap, an olive oil tasting emporium, will soon be located into the remodeled historic creamery building at 240 Robert Parker Coffin Road.
The stainless steel containers, or fustis, from Italy that are used to store the oil to keep it fresh, have been moved to the new store expected top open June 1. The new store will comprise nearly 2,400 square feet of retail space featuring more than 30 seasonal extra-virgin olive oils, flavored oils and specialty oils from small batch producers around the world.
Nearly 20 balsamic vinegars along with vincottos and olive specialty products are available as well. Customers are encouraged to sample the different varieties with the turn of the tap before a purchase. Their selection is then poured, with the bottle marked with variation, production year and date of freshness. Oils and vinegars range from $8.95 to $17.95 for a 12.7-ounce bottle.
In addition to the oils, the shop will now feature an array of sea salts, condiments, dip mixes, pasta and finishing sauces and gourmet meats and cheeses. Spices, herbs and seasonings will be displayed in the new "spice locker" featuring slicing glass doors for temperature and humidity control. Cooking demonstrations will also take place. "I hope to get people into creative cooking and show them how to use highly flavored oils and vinegars and other specialty ingredients in dishes that look appealing and taste great," said owner Rick Petrocelly said.
A shipping area will accommodate the growing demand for in-store and online requests.
