U.S. Marshals: Illinois fugitive arrested in Vegas
LAS VEGAS -- U.S. Marshals say they've arrested a fugitive from Illinois in Las Vegas.
Marshals identified 38-year-old Teddy McDowell as a Chicago-area gang member who was sought on a parole violation after serving half of a 25-year sentence on a 1997 rape conviction.
Records show McDowell was arrested Tuesday and was being held Wednesday as a fugitive at the Clark County jail pending an extradition hearing. He also faces a charge of failing to register as a sex offender.
Marshals in Las Vegas say McDowell removed an electronic monitoring device and fled to Las Vegas about a month after being let out of prison.
