Suburban projects in spending plan

SPRINGFIELD - Here is a sampling of suburban projects contained in the construction plan the Illinois Senate approved Wednesday:

•$148 million in school construction grants with portions for Winfield School District 34, Carol Stream Community Consolidated School District 98, Villa Park Elementary District 45, Westchester School District 921/2, Big Hollow School District 38, Northbrook Elementary District 27 and Westmont Unit District 201

•Des Plaines sidewalk improvements, $16,073

•Elgin Community College, $2.2 million for the extension of Spartan Drive.

•Elgin Regional Office Building, $2,461,000 for upgrades to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system

•Harper College, $40,653,900 for a Student Life Center

•College of DuPage,$1,544,600 for instruction center noise abatement, $25 million for temporary facilities replacement

•College of Lake County, $35,927,000 for construction of a student service building, $17,569,200 for Grayslake campus classroom building

•Appellate Court Second District in Elgin, $60,520 for various improvements

•Elgin Mental Health Center, $11.7 million for power plant and other renovations
