will.i.am self-censored on 'Boom Boom Pow'

LOS ANGELES -- Fox TV says a moment of silence during the Black Eyed Peas performance on 'American Idol' wasn't the network's doing.

Midway through the song "Boom Boom Pow," TV viewers heard only silence and saw an "Idol" logo across the screen for a few moments. A Fox spokesman said it was singer will.i.am's decision to stay mum, apparently to keep an expletive from airing during Wednesday's performance.

The two-hour finale of "American Idol" featured a lineup of pop stars, including the Black Eyed Peas, Cyndi Lauper and Keith Urban.

Finalists Adam Lambert and Kris Allen were vying for the "Idol" title.
