Chicago man sentenced in crack cocaine ring

URBANA -- A Chicago man has been sentenced to more than 21 years in federal prison after admitting he ran a crack cocaine distribution ring in Champaign-Urbana.

Federal Judge Michael P. McCuskey on Friday sentenced 28-year-old Olaitan Fowowe to 21 years, 10 months in prison.

Fowowe pleaded guilty in April 2008 to conspiracy to distribute more than 50 grams of crack cocaine.

Fowowe ran the ring while serving a work-release sentence for an earlier drug conviction. Authorities arrested him with more than four pounds of cocaine.

Two others have been sentenced in the case.

Twenty-four-year-old Sasha Daley of Chicago is serving 10 years. Kristopher Davis of South Holland is serving 19 years and seven months
