Aurora cookie company launches organic mixes

Doodles Cookies in Aurora is introducing two healthier gourmet cookie mixes.

The first is a low fat, organic chocolate chip cookie mix, while the second is gluten-free sugar cookie.

Deborah Sievers, owner of Doodles Cookies, is an avid cook who first got the idea for marketing her cookie mix after winning two awards from Chile Pepper magazine for an original chocolate chip cookie recipe. This was the first time the magazine awarded a prize to a recipe that did not contain chilies.

Sievers decided to use only organic products in her chocolate chip cookie mix in order to appeal to the growing population of organic food buyers. "I had been looking for a healthy, good-tasting alternative cookie to make for family and friends. My goal was to make an organic cookie that was healthy and also delicious," Sievers said. The result is Doodles Organic Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix. The fact that the cookies are low in fat is an added benefit for the health-conscious consumer.

After researching the organic foods market, Sievers realized that there was a large demand for gluten-free products, as well. She began working on her second product, Doodles Gluten-Free Sugar Cookie Mix. This product further demonstrates Doodles' commitment to using the best ingredients and innovative recipes to create cookie mixes that offer a healthy alternative, without sacrificing flavor. This product is due out in June.

The Organic Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix is currently available on the company's Web site, doodlescookies.com, which was recently launched.
