Cardinals put Ludwick on disabled list

PITTSBURGH -- The St. Louis Cardinals have put outfielder Ryan Ludwick on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring and recalled Nick Stavinoha from Triple-A Memphis.

Stavinoha was available for Wednesday night's game in Pittsburgh.

Ludwick strained his right hamstring while trying to run down a fly ball in the second inning Tuesday night in Pittsburgh. He was hitting .274 with eight homers and 26 RBIs.

The 27-year-old Stavinoha was batting .264 with four homers and 25 RBIs in 30 games for Memphis. The outfielder was drafted by the Cardinals in 2005 and appeared in 29 games for St. Louis last season.
