Sox option Contreras to AAA; recall Gobble

As expected, struggling White Sox starter Joe Contreras was optioned to Class AAA Charlotte Monday.
Left-handed reliever Jimmy Gobble had his contract purchased from Charlotte and he'll take Contreras' roster spot.
The 37-year-old Contreras was 0-5 with an 8.19 ERA is 6 starts this season. In 29 2/3 innings, the right-hander allowed 40 hits and walked 16.
The Sox are hoping Contreras turns the corner in the minor leagues and rejoins the rotation later in the season. For now, Clayton Richard takes his starting spot, and the lefty faces the Indians Wednesday.
