Hanover Park police investigate stabbing

Hanover Park police say they're following leads after a 19-year-old was stabbed on Tuesday.

Paramedics took the victim to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates where he was treated and released for several cuts on the chest and arm, Deputy Police Chief David Webb said. The incident happened about 12:30 a.m. on the 6900 block of Meadowbrook Lane.

No charges have been filed and Webb declined to provide further details.

However, Webb did say the stabbing isn't connected to an April 20 gang-related stabbing in Hanover Park where a 15-year-old was wounded near Church Street and Redwood Avenue, less than a mile and half east where Tuesday's attack happened.

Hanover Park officials have grown concerned with violent crimes in the village, and following two January murders, Hanover Park Mayor Rodney Craig assembled a crime prevention advisory team, including clergy, school officials, police and U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam and state Rep. Fred Crespo.
