Hanover Park man pleads guilty in home invasion

The third of four defendants implicated in a string of suburban robberies pleaded guilty to home invasion resulting in bodily harm Monday in a Rolling Meadows courtroom.

Steven Anderson, of the 2200 block of Walnut in Hanover Park, received eight years in prison in exchange for his guilty plea to the Class X felony. He must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence.

Assistant State's Attorney Mike Gerber said Anderson - together with co-defendants Mark Sharks of the 1000 block of Ashton Court in Streamwood, Trevor Russell of the 1200 block of Tannery Ridge in Elgin and Daniel Suddoth of the 2200 block of Walnut in Hanover Park - broke into an Elk Grove residence midmorning on May 9, 2008. After striking the victim about the face and head, the men made off with the victim's property, including watches and Japanese and American currency, Gerber said.

The victim suffered broken ribs, a broken nose and severe bruising which required hospitalization, Gerbar said. He identified the 42-year-old Anderson from a photo lineup several days after the home invasion.

Anderson received one year of probation for car theft in 1984 and four years of probation for a robbery in 1987. In 1994 he was sentenced to one year in the Illinois Department of Corrections for possession of a controlled substance.

Sharks, 40, pleaded guilty to home invasion in March and received eight years in prison. Russell, 18, pleaded guilty to home invasion, aggravated battery, residential burglary and burglary in February and received 16 years in prison.

Suddoth's case is ongoing.
