Thanks for keeping our soldiers warm

On behalf of all of our fraternity brothers in Kappa Sigma at the University of Illinois, we want to thank the residents of the Tri-Cities, especially St. Charles, for their generosity in helping with our recent clothes drive for the troops in Afghanistan.

Our fraternity had been undecided last fall about what our philanthropy project would be, but after learning that the winter gear and personal items of several newly-arriving Illinois National Guard units had been lost or destroyed, the decision was made to hold a winter clothes drive.

With your help and concern, Kappa Sigma was able to send over hundreds of articles of winter gear, including sweatshirts, hoodies, scarves and blankets featuring U of I logos and those of other Illinois universities and Illinois pro teams.

The troops have received these items and they are a great hit, not only with our own Illinois National Guard members, but also the Afghani people with whom they have shared some of the clothes.
